MLK Afternoon of Service

Lower Merion School District will celebrate the life and works of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the annual “MLK Afternoon of Service” on Friday, January 18, 2019 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. in the Lower Merion High School cafeteria.
Service projects will include: Valentines for Veterans; Dream Flags; kid-friendly arts & crafts; a clothing, literature and school supply drive; and more! The afternoon will also feature live musical entertainment and there will be snacks and refreshments available for purchase.

Lower Merion teacher producing original play in Philadelphia

“A play that hits home … and never leaves!,” reads the tagline of the newest play by Lower Merion High School special education teacher Dave Orlansky.

A year after Adam Blum’s college graduation, the 23-year-old is still living with his mom and dad. Headphones constantly on, and his eyes focused on a laptop, he has become one with the couch. Desperate, Adam’s mother creates a fake online dating profile for him to gently nudge her son out of the nest.

The comedy “The Boomerang Kid” debuts Jan. 10 at the Christ Church Neighborhood House. “It’s an idea I had five, six years ago. A lot of people my age had crippling college (loan) debt. I never moved home because my mom would’ve killed me,” said, Orlansky, who is 31.
